Technology, especially multimedia and Internet, has been changing and growing very rapidly. This course provides an introduction and guide to pre- and in-service teachers to current and emerging technology. It is intended to help PK-12 educators not only use multimedia and Internet resources in their own education but also to integrate them into their work as teachers. The course has objectives as follows:
- Understand the trends, and introductory knowledge, skills and facts related to multimedia and Internet;
- Search and evaluate Internet educational resources;
- Structure Internet inquiry activities via a multimedia tool;
- Design and develop educational web resources.
It is my hope that those objectives can help participants reflect on the technology integration, and help participants direct their learning. Furthermore, they are willing to learn how to achieve these objectives since they might make easy connections between what they are learning and what they are going to apply it to in the real world. Participants will participate actively in their education as self-learners as well as collaborative learners. They will engage the instructor and each other in discussion, share their thoughts and insights, and write regularly about what their are studying.
